New music festival announced for Liverpool city centre with Red Rum Club and more performing

A new music festival is set to take place across Liverpool city centre this year thanks to Liverpool's own Circa Waves.

The band, have organised the festival with the aim of championing new talent and supporting independent venues across the city.

Taking place on Saturday, April 4 the festival will be spread across three venues throughout the day and will see some of the city's most exciting bands perform including Red Rum Club.

The festival also aims to pay tribute to some of Liverpool's most iconic and long standing music venues.

Liverpool University's Mountford Hall, Zanzibar and Jimmy's will host the acts.

Speaking about the upcoming festival, Circa Waves frontman Kieran said: "I made my own festival In Liverpool and called it Circa Fest because why not.

"I wanted to showcase all of these amazing and talented upcoming acts Liverpool has to offer. Get on it."

The announcement comes at a time when small independent venues are struggling, making it difficult for new bands to be discovered.
