New music: Elro feat JME & Manga – Scrabble

A few weeks ago we mentioned Welsh former standup comedian turned rapper Elro in a blog about Man Like Me. Both acts have recently been signed to Mike Skinner's newly relaunched label The Beats, with Skinner producing Elro's early single Bad News. Describing himself as a "pretentious white boy who's main influence is getting rejected by women", and, on new track Scrabble, like "a black man trapped in the body of a geek at his peak" it's obvious that he's got a way with words and is keen to stand out, much like Skinner himself.

Scrabble, taken from the recently released Porcelain Corpse mixtape, enjoys production from the up and coming Preditah who MTV recently featured alongside a specially commissioned Grime mix. Featuring Manga and JME, Scrabble boasts fairly ridiculous wordplay from all three (JME's "I'm a geek trapped in the body of a black man, you see" is a nice riposte), while the beat is built around big honking horns and deep bass claps. For the video the three rappers sit down for a nice game of Scrabble, their rhymes appearing alongside some choice props as the song plays out.
