Sharna’s nightmare happened on Friday, March 22, near Seven Oaks Park in Cramlington, between 9.30pm and 10pm.

She had been out with her friend, Shannon Burns, for a few drinks to celebrate getting the keys to her new rented flat only days earlier.

Sharna, who is mum to six month-old Miylah, had realised her phone needed charging and went to her mum’s house nearby to get a charger.

But it was on the way back to the pub that all hell broke loose and she was confronted by the alleged attacker.

“I was walking past the park when one of the girls asked if I had a tab. I said no because I was smoking my last one. Then another girl asked if I had any drugs, but again I said no because I don’t take them,” said Sharna.

“It was then that girl just jumped on me. She pulled me to the floor, she was punching and kicking me and then she leaned over and bit my eyebrow. She was going mad and her friend even eventually pulled her off.

“It went on for about five minutes but it seemed a lot longer. I tried to defend myself but couldn’t. I didn’t know what to do, I was scared, I tried to stop her but couldn’t. I was soaked in blood, crying, my face was fully covered in blood. She called me a f***ing animal when I ran away.

“I’m telling my story because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else. I was absolutely terrified.”

Sharna was taken by her friend to the nearby St Nicholas Church, where she is a member.

It was from there Sharna’s mum received a distraught phone call.
