New mum left in tears by strangers' gestures to her at Farmfoods

A new mum was left in tears after kind strangers rushed to help her in a supermarket.

Stacy Peacock, from Southport, was at Farmfoods yesterday morning (Thursday), with her 17-day-old son, Jacob.

As she walked into the store, on Lord Street, Jacob began to cry.

Stacey told the ECHO: "I was at Farmfoods at about 9am, just to pick up a few frozen bits.

"Baby was crying the whole way around the shop and when I paid at the till he was still crying.

"The customer in front of me, a woman, just picked up the bag and packed all my shopping for me.

"At first I thought she was a staff member, but she wasn't. She didn't say anything, just packed it away for me. I thanked her for her help and she left ahead of me.

"Another lady offered help as I was loading my shopping into the car, I declined saying I would manage but thanked her again."

Stacy, who also has a four-year-old son, wants to find the women so she can thank them again.

In a post in a Southport-based Facebook group she wrote: "I wanted to say thank you again to the kind woman who packed my shopping in Farmfoods this morning whilst a was holding my crying newborn.

"Also to the lady who offered help getting into my car with pram, shopping etc. Your kindness made me cry in the car. Such a small act but welcomed at that moment for me."

She said she wanted to praise their kindness, especially in these worrisome times.

Stacy added: "These two small acts of kindness were selfless and meant to much to me."

The Facebook post has been liked more than a thousand times.

Among the comments, one woman wrote: "That's so nice, I remember being so overwhelmed with the smallest things with my baby and once a lady offered to hold my shopping basket for me and I cried!"

Another said: ""I have had a few times similar to this when another woman has just stepped in and helped out, it means so much to a frazzled parent!

"And we've all had that little cry in the car, you are not on your own and it does get easier. The new-born stage is a lot!"
