New mum chased with sticks and spat at by thugs on grounds of Lucan castle

A new mum was left "shaken" after she was allegedly chased with sticks and spat at by a group of young thugs while out walking with her newborn baby in west Dublin this afternoon.

The woman was walking in the grounds of Finnstown House in Lucan with her dog and five week old child at around 2pm.

As she walked, she spotted a group of teenage boys who appeared to be attempting to gain access to a laundry room in the hotel.

When the group spotted the woman, the allegedly chased her with sticks.

She claimed they also threw stones at her and spat at her.

The mum shared details of the shocking ordeal on a local Facebook group.

She said: "Because I stopped and was looking at them (I did not say a word to them) they started chasing me with sticks and threw stones at me and my baby and even spat on me.

"I rang the Guards but there’s no car available. I am left shaken, these teenagers have no fear or respect if they resume at intimidating a mother with her young child."

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live they are "currently unaware of any report" in relation to the incident.
