Hokum

Directed by Damian McCarthy.

Adam Scott, Peter Coonan and David Wilmot.

What’s it about?

A horror writer visits an Irish inn to scatter his parents' ashes, unaware the property is said to be haunted by a witch.

Why watch it?

Scott spent nearly three weeks filming alone in a single room, a process he described as emotionally demanding but important for conveying the character's isolation.

Haunted Universities 4

Directed by Chakorn Chaiprecha, Putipong “Tum" Saisikaew, Salinee “Peung" Khemcharas.

What’s it about?

Tales from four regions of Thailand. Stories handed down “from generation to generation” still told to this day: North – Northeast – Central – South.

Why watch it?

Sequel to the hit Haunted Universities 3.

Hodonaku, Owakare desu (Until We Meet Again)

Directed by Takahiro Miki.

Who’s in it?

Minami Hamabe, Ren Meguro and Kotone Furukawa.

What’s it about?

Misora Shimizu has failed repeatedly to find a job. By a strange coincidence, she meets funeral planner Reiji Urushibara, who works for funeral company Bando Kaikan. This leads Misora to begin working as an intern at Bando Kaikan. Reiji mentors her, but he is strict with her training and this causes Misora to feel discouraged. Soon, Misora's discouragement turns into admiration for Reiji. His manners and sympathetic actions towards the deceased and the bereaved family impress her. Misora decides to become a funeral planner.

Adapted from the novel "Hodonaku, Owakare Desu”.

Xun Long Jue · Mi Zong (The Legend Hunters)

Directed by Yifan Li and Simon West.

Who’s in it?

Hanyu Zhang, Celina Jade and Wu Jiang.

What’s it about?

Follows a team as they try to raid a tomb made by master tomb raiders. It is set partially in Russia and will involve scenes at Catherine Palace in St. Petersburg.

Why watch it?

It is based on the novel series “Ghost Blows Out The Light” by Zhang Muye.

Blast

Directed by Subash K. Raj.

Who’s in it?

Arjun Sarja, Preity Mukhundhan and Abhirami.

What’s it about?

Follows a family trained to protect the powerless who become the most dangerous obstacle of all.

Why watch it?

A Tamil action family thriller.

Sandome no satsujin (The Third Murder)

Directed by Hirokazu Koreeda.

Who’s in it?

Masaharu Fukuyama, Kôji Yakusho and Suzu Hirose.

What’s it about?

A courtroom drama centred around the murder of a factory president.

Why watch it?

To write the film, the director consulted with the legal supervisor for one of his previous films, “Like Father, Like Son”.

The movie rights went from Warner Bros. (2007) to Columbia Pictures (2009), to Netflix (2022) and to Amazon MGM Studios.

Scary Movie

Directed by Michael Tiddes.

Regina Hall, Olivia Rose Keegan and Anna Faris.

What’s it about?

Two friends find themselves caught up in mayhem involving killers, monsters and supernatural creatures once again.

Why watch it?

The longest break in the Scary Movie franchise being 13 years.

Gunche (Colony)

Directed by Yeon Sang-ho.

Who’s in it?

Jun Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan and Ji Chang-wook.

What’s it about?

Professor Se Jeong, attends a biotech conference-only to witness it spiral into catastrophe when a rapidly mutating virus is unleashed. As the outbreak spreads and the infected begin to transform, authorities seal off the entire facility. The initial concept for the film centred on emphasising the suspense generated by the constant shifting of roles.
