New mock from Daniel Jeremiah has Browns going defense at No. 10

The latest mock draft from former Cleveland Browns scout-turned NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah defies conventional wisdom with several picks. That includes the No. 10 spot, where he doesn’t have an offensive tackle going to his old employer.

Instead, Jeremiah opts for versatile defensive standout Isaiah Simmons from Clemson. The hybrid linebacker/safety was one of the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine’s biggest winners with an incredible athletic display. Unlike some other workout wonders, Simmons applied that freakiness quite well on the gridiron for the Tigers, too.

But he’s not an offensive tackle, the biggest remaining need on the Browns. Jeremiah thinks Simmons is too good to pass up:

The Browns need another offensive tackle, but Simmons might be too good to bypass. He is the perfect defender to match up with the division’s most dangerous playmaker, Lamar Jackson.

Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills and Mekhi Becton are all off the board in the first nine picks, which does make the decision to tab Simmons easier even for those who demand OT help with the Browns’ first pick.
