New Merseyside sushi restaurant Tibu loved by Steven Gerrard and other celebs

A new restaurant and cocktail bar has opened in Formby, and celebrities including Steven Gerrard are loving it.

Tibu Bar and Eatery, on Chapel Lane, offers "internationally inspired" cuisine.

The new venture is run by Tibu Pinedo, who has previously worked at The Vincent in Liverpool and The Warehouse in Southport.

Tibu said: "I have now decided to open my own restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Formby Village and I am excited about hopefully meeting some of you soon.

“My philosophy is to always try our very best to source our produce locally and employ local staff; even our head chef Nick was born and bred in Formby!

“All of our food is freshly prepared. Our menu is international and we also have a sushi and vegetarian / vegan menu.

“I would like to thank McComb Property Company as our landlords for carrying out our building works, AKM design for our stunning interiors and Andrew Dunne of Creative Design & Build as our main contractor.

“I look forward to welcoming you all.”

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard seems to be a fan of the restaurant, posting a number of photos from Tibu on his Instagram.

Formby model-turned-entrepreneur Alex Cannon, who has previously appeared on Big Brother, has also shared posts from the new venture on his social media.

Tibu has been open for just a few weeks, but has already had some rave reviews.

One diner wrote: "Love this place. Perfect for the 'gram haha"

Another said: "Just had a lovely lunch here, really nice atmosphere, very flavoursome food and great bar area"

A third wrote: "Service and atmosphere is amazingly good, the food is delicious and takes a lot of beating and it is even a pleasure to use the bathrooms. It looks like this is the start of Formby's revival."
