THIS stunner is the Mercedes-Benz VISION EQXX – the concept electric car that ends range anxiety.
That’s because the luxury German marque’s engineers have created a highly efficient drivetrain capable of covering more than 620 miles on a single charge for a car specifically designed to be taken on road trips – with cutting-edge cabin technology.
A specially developed, lightweight and compact battery has just under 100kWh of usable energy and the powertrain has an output of 150kW (201bhp).
Importantly, 95 per cent of the energy from the battery ends up at the wheels – compared with just 30 per cent from even the most efficient traditional engine.
In addition, 117 solar cells on the roof can add more than 15 miles of range daily in ideal conditions. The solar energy is stored in a lightweight battery to power the air con, lights, infotainment system and other functions.
The VISION EQXX is ultra-aerodynamic, the chassis has a lightweight Formula One subframe and advanced bodyshell materials cut weight but provide protective strength.
A simplistic interior design uses a host of lightweight, sustainable materials and features organic-inspired detailing.
The tech includes a completely seamless display that spans 47.5 inches across the dashboard. This user interface is said to be intuitive and features highly responsive, intelligent software and top-notch graphics.
