New Mercedes-Benz GLC set for a summer sales assault

THE new Mercedes-Benz GLC will arrive here in late summer with prices starting from £39,420 and rising to £57,670 for the flagship model.

Both traditional SUV and sleeker coupe body styles will be available with a choice of 194 or 245hp diesel engines and four-wheel drive fitted as standard across the range from the German car makers. Trim levels will depend on which model and body style buyers choose.

The 194hp GLC 220d 4Matic SUV comes with a choice of Sport, AMG Line and AMG Line Premium trims, while its’ more powerful brother, the 245hp 300d is offered in AMG Line Premium, AMG Line Premium Plus and AMG Line Premium Plus Ultimate trims.

The 220d Coupe is only available in two trim levels – AMG Line and AMG Line Premium – while the 300d Coupe offers the same trim choice as its SUV sibling.

Sport models come as standard with Mercedes’ MBUX multimedia system with voice activation, active parking assistance with reversing camera, a 10.25in touchscreen media display, 5.5in instrument cluster display, heated front seats, privacy glass, agility control comfort suspension and 18in five-triple-spoke alloy wheels.

AMG Line models add 19in five-twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels, AMG sports suspension with selective damping, AMG body styling including a front apron with sporty air intakes, AMG sports seats and a diamond-patterned radiator grille.

AMG Line Premium models add multibeam LED headlights, running boards, 12.3in digital instrument cluster display, ambient lighting, augmented navigation, 20in multi-spoke AMG alloy wheels, smartphone integration, and leather AMG sport seats.

Step up to AMG Line Premium Plus models and you’ll also get a panoramic glass sunroof, Burmester surround sound system, keyless-go comfort package, memory seats and 20in five-twin-spoke AMG alloy wheels.

Top-of-the-range AMG Line Premium Plus Ultimate models add air suspension with continuously adjustable damping and the MBUX interior assistant.

Options include an upgraded driving assistance package that, for £1695, includes active distance and evasive steering assistance, active braking assistance with cross traffic function plus lane-keeping, blind spot and speed limit assistance systems.
