New medieval bar to open on Mathew Street in Liverpool city centre

A brand new pub is set to open on Mathew Street and it is set to be a medieval haven in the city centre.

The King John will launch in November inside the Rubber Soul Complex as a traditional old English pub.

With a medieval theme and warm old English features and fittings, The King John takes its name from King John, who ‘founded’ the area of ‘Liuerpul’ and granting it the status as an official town in his Royal Charter.

The pub will offer a range of beers and cask ales, along with whiskys, gins and other drinks.

Jimmy Boland, general manager of The King John, said: "We will be adding another 12 jobs to the complex, which currently employs 80 staff.

“Something we are very proud of at Pub Invest Group is creating local jobs.

“The venue opening hours will be from 10am until 12am Sunday to Thursday, and 10am until 4am on Friday and Saturday.

“Liverpool officially became a city in 1207 when King John founded the area and this venue takes its name from the King that created our great city."

The King John is expected to open in mid-November.
