New McDonald's sale includes items for £1.11 as restaurants prepare to close dine-in areas

McDonald's restaurants will close to dine-in customers in England from Thursday as a second national lockdown begins.

But it's not all bad news as people who want a fast food fix can enjoy it for a fraction of the price from today.

McDonald's has launched a sale, according to the Mirror, which includes £1 off Big Macs and runs until Sunday, November 15.

To access the reduced price menu, customers need to order through the MyMcDonald's app, tap on the 'Deals' section, then order from a participating restaurant. The discount will automatically be applied once you've selected the deal and you can use the offer an unlimited number of times during the promotional period, but not in conjunction with any other offer.

Discounts available include:

  • Big Mac for £3.39.
  • Chicken Legends for £3.89
  • Quarter Pounder with cheese for £3.39
  • Double cheeseburger for £1.11
  • Triple cheeseburger for £1.53

Not included are meal deals, sides or items on the saver menu.

To qualify for the deal, you must be over 16 and have downloaded, registered and signed-in via the app.

McDonald's has confirmed it will continue serving customers throughout the new lockdown via takeaway. Chief executive Paul Pomroy said: "At 00:01am on Thursday we will close our dining areas across England but, in line with Government guidance, we will remain open for takeaway, Drive Thru and McDelivery via Uber Eats and Just Eat."

He added that after the first lockdown McDonald's made the following changes to keep customers and employees safe:

  • Fewer people working on each shift, and introducing new measures including additional screens in kitchens and service areas to provide a safer environment to help with social distancing

  • Serving a reduced menu and some restaurants running reduced hours

  • Hand washing at least every 30 minutes and providing sanitiser for teams, delivery partners and customers

  • Asking customers to respect social distancing guidelines and to wear face coverings when entering the restaurant, using floor markings and signposting routes for customers and delivery partners

  • Cleaning surfaces and equipment, including self-order screens and card readers, even more regularly

  • Providing teams with additional protective equipment including face coverings, and using contactless thermometers to check their temperature

Pomroy added: "We remain committed to enabling our people to come to work safely whilst we continue to serve the communities in which we operate.

"In some restaurants, our operating hours and services may vary. As always, we will keep you updated via the My McDonald's App and our website."
