New market to open in Stapleford with fruit and veg, fudge and butcher's van on offer

A new market is to open in a Nottinghamshire town as part of plans to help encourage shoppers back as lockdown restrictions lift.

The market, will be open on Thursday, April 22, between 8am and 2pm at the Walter Parker Memorial Square in Stapleford, taking place at the same time every Thursday going forward.

A range of quality produce from traders including fresh fruit and vegetables to sweets and fudge, along with a butcher’s van who will be joining from Thursday, April 29.

Broxtowe Borough Council says teams have been working hard to make sure that all of its markets are 'Covid secure' and visitors can shop safely.

The council says it's allowed for good spacing between stalls, each with their own hand sanitisers.

It's hoped the opening of Stapleford’s new market will encourage residents to come into the town centre and encourage them to shop locally and support other small businesses.

Broxtowe Borough Council’s markets officer, Clair Storey, added: “It’s great to bring a market to Stapleford and we hope it will bring a boost to the town centre after a difficult time for local business.”
