There’s a new sign of the rejuvenation of South Bristol’s ‘high street’, as a new monthly market comes to East Street in Bedminster from tomorrow.
The new East Street Market will take place on the first Saturday of the month - starting on April 1 - and is being run by Better Events, who last year launched a monthly market in Broadmead.
Saturday’s market will be a regular event, and is backed by the Bristol City Council and WECA ‘Love Our High Streets’ project.

Better Events say the East Street Market will be locally operated and a not-for-profit venture, with the market itself including ‘pre-loved goods, jewellery, homeware, prints, vintage items' and more.

It’s a further sign of the resurgence of East Street. Later in April, the second Eat:Bedminster food festival is being held along the main shopping road through Bedminster, and promises to be bigger than the launch event last October.
Earlier this month, a new cafe called Lucky Strike opened on East Street, joining a host of new independent businesses that have set up there since the covid pandemic. The cafe is opposite a new development of 50 flats and retail stores that’s being built on the site of the old Argos store, while next door, the former Poundstretcher store is being converted into a restaurant, bar and events hub.
