New Manchester city centre hotel revealed as winner of The Sunday Times Best Places to Stay award 2019

Native Manchester has been unveiled as the regional winner in the 2019 Sunday Times Best Places to Stay list.

The hotel is also home to a Bistrotheque restaurant, boutique gym and 'Cultureplex' - an arts centre complete with its own indie mini cinema, bar, brasserie and performance spaces.

The reviewer who stayed at the aparthotel rated the 'comfy Gainsborough beds, thick curtains and rainfall showers' while commending the deco/maritime decor and nod to Manchester's industrial heritage.

Bosses say it was the Northern Quarter building's heritage that drew them in when searching for sites in Manchester.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News at the opening in September, Founder and CEO Guy Nixon said: “This has been an extraordinary opportunity to take one of the great icons of Manchester’s industrial past and turn it into a major cultural and social destination for the city.

“Manchester is a thriving, culturally rich and fast expanding city so it seems apt that we are unveiling the new breed of Native's aparthotels here at Ducie Street."

The hotel took over the bulk of the historic warehouse with a sympathetic restoration to most of the listed building's original features including exposed brickwork, vaulted ceilings and wrought-iron girders and columns.

A new glass atrium roof has been installed over the lobby area and there's seven floors of accommodation.

Each apartment is kitted out as a home-from-home, with contemporary decor, solid oak parquet floors, mid-century style Conran furnishings, smart TVs and fully-equipped kitchens with dishwashers and washing machines.

Native Manchester takes the crown from 2018 North winner The Cookie Jar in Northumberland - an intimate boutique hotel close to Alnwick Castle in the North East.
