New Man City signing looking to open account against Real Madrid

Vicky Losada is feeling confident ahead of Manchester City's trip to Real Madrid and opened up on her desire to score against her former rivals on debut.

Manchester City will travel to Spain's capital tonight (8pm kick off) to face Real Madrid Femenino in their Uefa Women's Champions League second qualifying round tie.

City will face a relatively new face in women's football given the fact that Real Madrid's women side were only formally established in 2020.

The Blue's new signing Vicky Losada is relishing the opportunity to return to her home country Spain, particularly to play against one of her formal rivals.

Losada came through the ranks at Barcelona and represented the club during four different stints, winning six league titles and last season's Champions League with a thumping 4-0 win over Chelsea in the final.

"People might think that, because of their name, Real are an experienced team but they’re not," Losada told the Guardian.

“This is only their second season in the Spanish league. They have very talented players but the girls are still getting to know each other.”

The new Manchester City midfielder enthusiastically admitted she is looking forward to playing against Real Madrid and declared she is hoping to break her duck against the Spanish outfit.

“I’m very excited to start my City career in Spain against the team I’ve been watching from the other side for my whole life. A goal would be nice; if someone offered me my first City goal against Real Madrid, where do I sign?

“It should be a good game and a great atmosphere but I think our team is ready to fight for trophies. I’ve adapted quickly here; there are many versions of football but I think Gareth likes the style I like — and I personally believe Manchester City can win the Champions League.”

With City having made several reinforcements this summer, the club will be hoping to improve on their quarter final finish, but will need to overcome Real Madrid just to reach this year's competition.
