New Man City signing Felix Correia joins AZ Alkmaar on loan

New Manchester City signing Felix Correia has joined AZ Alkmaar on loan for the season.

The 18-year-old arrived from Sporting Lisbon in July and was City's third signing of the summer after club-record arrival Rodri and returning left-back Angelino.

The Portugal youth international is highly rated and represented his country at Under 19 level at the U19 Euros in Armenia last month. He scored seven goals in 20 appearances for Sporting's U19s last campaign.

Although it is hoped he could one day challenge for a place in the City first-team squad, he will spend this season on loan at Eredivisie club AZ Alkmaar.

The club announced he has signed a one-year loan contract, with an option for a further 12 months.

Max Huiberts, director of football affairs at AZ, said: "We are happy with the arrival of Félix.

"Felix is a real winger with a lot of speed, individual action and depth. Nowadays you don't see that much anymore with a player with these characteristics."

The winger ended speculation over his club future by joining City from Sporting and he outlined his ambitions of breaking into the first-team and working under Pep Guardiola.

"I signed a deal for Manchester City. I'm looking forward to working hard and join the main team," he told Vbet News when he joined the Blues.

"I admire him a lot," the youngster added of the City manager. "The few times that I talked to him I was really impressed. I'm eager to start working with him."
