New major BBC drama to be filmed in East Kilbride NEXT WEEK

East Kilbride fans of Peaky Blinders and Line of Duty are in for a treat over the next week with filming of a major new BBC drama in the town.

Residents in St Leonard’s returned home from work and school this week to find a letter pinned to their door advising of upcoming filming.

The letter said that crews would be in place in Glenfeshie from next week to film scenes for The Nest– and that could see Scottish actor Martin Compston coming to town.

The Line of Duty Start plays the lead role of Dan along with Peaky Blinders star, Sophie Rundle, who plays lead female, Emily.

A letter given to St Leonard’s residents by production company Studio Lambert aid: “This letter is to notify you of filming that is planned to take place at 54 Glenfeshie on Wednesday, December 4.

“Both crew and vehicles will be present on Glenfeshie between 1pm and 7.30pm.

“We will park our trucks and technical vebicles on Glenfeshie, please pay attention to the cones and corex signs that will be put in place the evening prior to filming.

“We ask if you could please refrain from parking within the coned areas on this day.

“We will make every effort to keep noise and disruption to an absolute minimum.”

The Nest follows wealthy couple Dan and Emily as they desperately try to have a baby, and when they meet 18-year-old Kaya (played by Mirren Mack) in a chance encounter, it looks like the final piece of their perfect family puzzle is in reach.

Kaya agrees to carry Dan and Emily’s baby, and it feels like the three were meant to meet – but was it really by chance?

And will all three members of this pact get their happy ending, or have they all embarked on a relationship of mutually assured destruction?

Filmed in and around Glasgow and written by Nicole Taylor, The Nest also stars Harry Potter actress Katie Leung and Game of Thrones star Kate Dickie, while Samuel Small, David Hayman, Shirley Henderson, Fiona Bell, James Harkness and Bailey Patrick round out the cast.

One St Leonards resident said filming there would be “really great for the area”.

“I’m absolutely buzzing to see Martin and Sophie – hopefully it can help bring a lot of positive eyes to the area.”

The five-part thriller will air on BBC One, although a specific release date is not yet known.
