New luxury glamping holiday park coming to West Lothian soon

A site for luxury camping has been approved in West Lothian.

West Lothian Council granted the application on June 10 for Hairy Haggis Glamping to build six glamping pods, four seasonal bell tents, with a toilet and shower block and parking, footpaths and drainage.

The new holiday site at Northfield Farm lies three miles away from Whitburn and just over one mile to Fauldhouse, and is accessed via an existing access from the B7015 south of Longridge.

The developers, Hairy Haggis Glamping, say they will only be operation for six months of the year and they are looking to create a family friendly quiet environment.

A spokesperson explained: “The pods would be rented out on a per-nightly basis with a minimum stay of two nights. Patrons would likely be couples and families. Party groups will not be permitted.

“The site would be operated for typical short-term holiday lets. The site would be operated as a typical (year-round) holiday let for the Pods and the tents will be rented out on a 6-month basis due to temperature changes.

“The site will be much like a caravan site, but with much fewer numbers and guests, meaning less noise and disruption to neighbouring properties and road users etc.

“The site will also be marketed as a peaceful and relaxing retreat, which again should mean noise from guests is not a consideration.”

The developers say glamping installations require minimal ground works and unharmful construction practices.

Through use of ground screws to mount pods they believe that concrete may not be required at all.

The site is currently a disused Christmas tree farm, with 10 year-old overgrown Christmas trees covering the majority of the land.

West Lothian Council have stipulated that any existing trees will have to be replanted as terms of planning conditions.
