New luxury apartments up for sale in former nightclub in Newport

A former nightclub in Newport city centre has been transformed into brand new apartments - and they're available now. The 11 new apartments are located on Griffin Street at the site of the former Revolution nightclub.

Revolution was a popular spot with students in the early 2010s with its plush lounge areas leading off onto decking in the courtyard outside. It has been known by other names over the years including the Bank nightclub, in reference to its former use as a bank.

The building has undergone significant renovations in recent years and how houses Global Cio Institute business events company downstairs. Work has also been ongoing on 11 brand new apartments upstairs which have now gone on the market.

Speaking about the building's rich history its owner Neil Williams, who runs the business downstairs, said: "It used to be a bank and then, when it changed into a pub, it was the Bank pub. Everybody knew it as that then.

"The features in our basement and toilet have still got the old bank doors. It was then John Henry's club, then Revolution and then Rift. I bought it and converted it into offices in 2015."

The new flats, a combination of one- and two-bed apartments, are now on the market with offers in excess of £140,000 being considered. The apartments feature fully-fitted kitchens and bathroom suites and are billed online as "[placing] you at the heart of the action while also offering you a modern, comfortable retreat away from all the hustle and bustle."

Mr Williams added that the business downstairs still contains a few nods to the building's partying past. "The drink pumps are up on the wall, the Revolution sign is up there too and graphics around the walls are in the office."

He added that the separate apartments upstairs had only just been finished after years of renovation, which he carried out himself, and were now ready to be occupied, giving the historic building a brand new future.
