New-look Co-Op store unveiled as work on £1.3m refurbishment is completed

The Co-Op has unveiled a new-look Nottinghamshire store with Amazon lockers and a Costa coffee dispenser.

A £1.3 million improvement programme has now finished at a branch in The Ropewalk, Southwell, which also includes an in-store bakery. The store is run completely on renewable electricity.

Improvement work on the 10,000 sq ft store took eight weeks to complete.

Store manager Chris Hill, 36, said: "We have had a great response and reaction to the improvements.

"I am absolutely delighted to return to Southwell with the Co-op– I worked in this store many years ago, and to return to manage it is a dream job for me – and at nearly 10,000 sq ft it is the largest store that I have managed.

"Our aim is for the store to operate at the heart of local life and make a difference in the community – this is a passion of mine, something very close to my heart.

"I am keen to meet and talk to community groups to explore ways in which the Co-op can build relationships and make a difference locally."

Good causes are also set to benefit from the Co-Op, with members receiving five percent rewards when they purchase own-brand products and services and the Co-Op giving one percent to local causes.
