Two people have been arrested by police investigating “recent disorder” in the New Lodge area of North Belfast .
It is understood the probe is looking into trouble including that which occurred around a controversial bonfire in the district in August.
Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector Paul Noble said: “Officers from the Oldpark Neighbourhood Team arrested the men, aged 19 and 50, in the North Belfast area this morning (Thursday 3rd October).
“They were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including riotous behaviour, possessing a petrol bomb and throwing a petrol bomb and both remain in custody at this time assisting with our enquiries.”
The officer added that police “continue to investigate the disorder that occurred over the summer months in the New Lodge area and would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact officers at Tennent St on 101”.
Police say people can also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
