New local service for carers!

A charity have launched a monthly support group for carers in West Lothian who support an autistic adult.

Parents of Autistic Spectrum Disorder Adults (PASDA) will host the sessions at Sycamore House in Livingston on the second Monday of every month.

PASDA was set up in the 90s when a small group of parents began meeting to discuss their needs and any appropriate services that existed in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

PASDA was set up in the 90s when a small group of parents began meeting to discuss their needs and any appropriate services that existed in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Today they support family and friends of over-16s with autism spectrum conditions and provide carer support groups throughout the month.

Speaking to the Courier the career and communication officer at PASDA, Cath Purdie, explained: “Our vision is that families of adults on the autism spectrum will live meaningful and fulfilling lives. Our mission is to empower and support families of adults on the autism spectrum in Edinburgh and the Lothians.

“We aim to improve the health and wellbeing of family carers of adults on the autism spectrum in Edinburgh and the Lothians through peers support, information and social activities.

“Carers come in all guises, some are parents, some are siblings you may even be supporting your own parents or indeed your partner. Pasda is here is support all our carers.”

The Pasda West Lothian Support Group operate out of Sycamore House, Quarrywood Court, Livingston. For times and dates of future meetings they can be found on Facebook.
