New Liverpool signing Ibrahima Konate has given a hint as to the shirt number he may wear when his Anfield career begins.
The £36m signing from RB Leipzig will get his first taste of life at his new club when training begins at Kirkby next week.
The 22-year-old Frenchman put pen to paper on a five-year deal last month to bolster the Reds’ defensive options after the heart of the back four was ripped out of Jurgen Klopp’s side last season due to serious long-term injuries.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all suffered season ending injuries at different stages of the campaign last season, while Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak also missed the last month of the season.
And Konate has whetted Reds fans’ appetites by appearing to reveal what shirt number he will be wearing when he makes his Liverpool bow.
A video online has emerged which shows Konate, seemingly back home in France, surrounded by cheering fans.
After some fanfare, the French U21 star who is already wearing a Liverpool training top, pulls out a Liverpool home shirt from a bag next to him which has a number five on the back.
Whether that is what he will be wearing when the Reds begin their Premier League campaign away to Norwich City on 14 August remains to be seen.
