New Lidl supermarket now open in Finnieston

Lidl has opened a new supermarket in Glasgow's Finnieston.

The new 1,205 sqm store, located on Finnieston Street, employs a team of 30 people and becomes the retailer’s 104th store in Scotland.

Opening just in time for the festive season, customers will find exclusive deals and offers on a range of selected products during the first week of opening.

Lidl GB’s Regional Head of Property, Gordon Rafferty, said: "Our new Finnieston store, Lidl’s 19th in Glasgow, showcases our commitment to continuing to invest and expand across the city.

"In addition to creating further job opportunities, the store will bring even more great products and fantastic offers to the city's residents as well as showcasing some of the incredible Scottish produce we stock throughout the year."

During the first week of opening, customers will find exclusive deals and offers on selected products including a Vileda vacuum cleaning robot (£39.99, available Thursday, 26 November) and a Toshiba 43” full HD smart TV (£129.00, available Friday, 27 November), and a Meradiso Kingsize mattress (£99.00, available Friday, 27 November).

Lidl will be operating a range of social distancing measures to help maintain a safe store environment for both colleagues and customers.

These include floor markings, reminding customers of the importance of maintaining a two-metre distance from each other when shopping, along with regular tannoy announcements.

Dedicated cleaning stations are also in place at store entrances, including hand sanitiser, disinfectant and wipes, for customers to use on their trolleys and baskets.

Additionally, the supermarket has installed protective screens at checkouts and is continuing to encourage customers to pay by contactless payment methods where possible.

The new supermarket forms part of the company’s £1.45bn investment in its expansion across Great Britain in 2019 and 2020.
