A new Lidl store could be opening in Longwell Green - less than a mile down the road from an existing store.
Lidl UK has submitted a planning application to South Gloucestershire Council seeking permission to build a new store in Aldermoor Way at the former Homebase site.
The site is close to a number of other retail units including B&Q, Currys PC World, Costa Coffee and Marks and Spencer.
If approved it would add another Lidl budget supermarket to the area. There is already one less than a mile down the road in Hanham High Street.

There are also stores close by in Kingswood and Brislington.
According to the firm it will add to Lidl’s existing store portfolio of 760, and will form part of the company’s growth plans which will see it open more than 50 new stores a year.
Glen Stidever, Lidl UK’s regional head of property, said: “We are delighted to announce that we have submitted a planning application to South Gloucestershire Council.
“If granted this would mark a multi-million pound investment in the area and the creation of new jobs when the store opens.

According to the plans the new store will include a bakery and toilet facilities - as well as the much adored middle aisle surprises.
The supermarket giant has also said the store would create up to 40 new jobs for the local economy.
