A brand new Lidl supermarket is set to open in Lanark this week creating 10 new jobs in the area.
The new store, at Braidfute Retail Park, will open its doors to customers for the first time at 8am on Thursday, August 26.
It will replace the existing Lidl store on Castlegate Road, which will close for the final time at 5pm this Wednesday, with all existing colleagues retained.
The new store opening times will be between 8am to 10pm Monday to Sunday.
During the first week of opening, customers will be able to find exclusive deals and offers including a Plunge Saw PTSS 1200 for £34.99 (available on Thursday, August 26), a Record Player for £44.99 (available on Friday, August 27) and a Crock-Pot Slow Cooker for just £9.99 (available on Saturday, August 28).
Part of the company’s ongoing £1.3bn expansion and regeneration plans across Great Britain for 2021 and 2022, the store will have a 1050m² sales area, will feature facilities including an in-store bakery, customer toilets, self-checkouts and car parking.
As part of Lidl’s Feed It Back initiative, in partnership with Neighbourly, the store will also redistribute surplus food and customer donations to local charities including Blue Triangle, a grassroots organisation that provides supported accommodation for vulnerable people.
Gordon Rafferty from Lidl told Lanarkshire Live : "The new larger site, a long-time vacant unit that has been transformed, will serve the community through job opportunities and an enhanced customer experience for even more shoppers.
"We look forward to welcoming Lanark residents through our doors."
