Lidl GB’s regional head of property Nick Harvey said: “It is fantastic that we are able to open our doors and welcome local residents into our new store at West One Retail park in Eccles.
"We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in delivering this store and we look forward to serving our multi-award-winning products to the local community.”
The new 1,406m² store, part of the firm's £1.3b expansion plans for Great Britain, will create up to 40 new jobs for the community.
Customers will be able to shop the iconic "Middle of Lidl" aisles, and enjoy freshly baked items from an in-store bakery.
A customer toilet will also be available for patrons, along with bicycle parking outside the store.
Several local charities are expected to benefit from the surplus food seen in the store.
Manchester City Mission, KSLC CIC and The RCCG City Of Praise charity have already been linked to the store's Feed it Back scheme.
The initiative, run in partnership with Neighbourly, connects stores across the country with local charities, foodbanks, community cafes and kitchens, to make sure leftover food doesn't go to waste.
Lidl's new Eccles store will open 8am-10pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am-5pm on Sundays.
