New Leeds United signing Rodrigo quickly texts new teammate as he addresses Bolton experience

New Leeds United striker Rodrigo Moreno has already been in touch with new teammate Pablo Hernandez.

Rodrigo was announced as the Whites' record signing this morning, joining on a £27m deal from Valencia.

And some familiar faces will greet him at Elland Road when he arrives following the international break.

"I played with Pablo Hernandez at Valencia, I texted him this morning, just to say hello," he told LUTV.

"I played with Kiko (Casilla) in the national team once and I played also with Helder Costa when I was in Benfica. He was there on the second team.

"Of course knowing those players is important to me, for my adaptation in the club and then I want to arrive there as soon as possible to meet everybody, to meet my teammates and to help them and everybody together and achieve the goals of the season."

Rodrigo has played in the Premier League previously, spending time on loan with Bolton Wanderers in 2010.

Reflecting on that experience, he added: "Yeah, my first experience was with Bolton in 2010. It was my first year in the first division. It was a really, really nice experience.

Rodrigo speaks to LUTV after signing for Leeds United, 29 August, 2020 (Leeds United)

"I was young at that moment, of course nowadays I'm a better player, I'm a more complete player than those years. And I'm really excited to come back to the Premier League, how people feel the football there is different from the other countries and that's it.

"I want to enjoy, me and my family, it's an important step professionally but in my life also. I think it's going to be a good experience."

Rodrigo's actual arrival in Leeds will be delayed due to his call-up for the Spain national team, Luis Enrique's men facing Germany and Ukraine from next week.

"I think Leeds will give to me the opportunity to go the national team," Rodrigo said.

"We have next summer the Euros in two years we have the World Cup. I am lucky to already play a World Cup with Spain in 2018.

"I come here looking to improve my football, work hard and play well to achieve for the national team as well."
