New Kilmarnock boss Angelo Alessio says he'll bring hard-working attitude to Rugby Park

Angelo Alessio insisted today that he will bring a hard-working attitude to Kilmarnock.

The new Rugby Park boss revealed that’s the key, and he has promised an “attractive and positive” style of play.

He will be unveiled to the press later this afternoon, but he spoke to the club’s website.

He said: “I study tactics in every game, I want to know everything about every opponent, and I want to play attractive and positive football.

“I worked with Antonio Conte for eight years, we won a lot of trophies, and I learned if you want to win then you need to work hard every single day.

“We have good, professional players. If we want to follow last season we need to work hard every day.

Alessio admits that Kilmarnock’s passionate supporters helped him decide Rugby Park was his next destination.

He said: “Steve Clarke left me a big legacy, I am very excited for the challenge ahead.

“I am looking forward to bringing my experience to the Scottish league, and to drive Kilmarnock forward as Scotland’s oldest professional club.

“I was attracted to the job when my agent called me and I looked at the last match which was a 2-1 win against Rangers.

“The fans are very passionate, and the team is very tight and close.”

He added: “So far I have been organising the training sessions ahead and I am looking to strengthen the team. I have also been preparing upcoming friendlies and our trip to Marbella.”

Former Juventus, Chelsea and Italy No 2 Alessio will kick off his reign away to Welsh side Connah’s Quay Nomads in the Europa League on Thursday, July 11.

He said: “I think it’s a good draw and a good start to the season.

“I have come here to work hard, and to make a team you can be proud of.”
