New Kilbirnie Ladeside management team confident they can get Blasties climbing table

Kilbirnie Ladeside have appointed Thomas Molloy and Shaun Dillon as joint managers.

The duo step into the hotseat after four years in charge at Greenock Juniors.

They succeed Martin Ferry who quit two weeks ago after a dismal, winless start to the season.

Captain Martin McBride assumed the role of caretaker manager following Ferry's departure and chalked up four points, guiding the Blasties to their first league win of the season against Bonnyton on Wednesday.

Kilbirnie currently sit second bottom of the West of Scotland Premier Division and new co-boss Dillon, who had playing spells at Kilmarnock and Morton, admits the top priority is climbing the table.

He tweeted: "Both Tommy and myself can't wait to get started with this great club and put our own stamp on it in the coming weeks and months to try get us up the table in what is a very competitive league but have every confidence we can succeed."

Announcing the appointment, Kilbirnie said in a statement: "Kilbirnie Ladeside FC are delighted to announce that we have appointed Shaun Dillon and Thomas Molloy as joint managers.

"The former Greenock Juniors FC management team will we believe bring in much needed impetus on the back of our two credible results. They will take over the reigns with immediate effect.

"We’d like to take this opportunity to thank captain Martin McBride for taking over as caretaker manager and in particular Billy Ogilvie who also takes great credit for picking up our 4pts in the last two games. Thanks also goes to coach Kevin Proctor.

"We’d also like to thank the candidates the club has spoken with and the numerous applications received.

"Finally the committee would like to express our gratitude to Greenock Junior FC board for granting permission to engage with Shaun and Thomas during the process, never a easy situation to be in and we wish them well."
