New John Delaney documentary to air on TV next week

A new documentary will explore John Delaney's reign at the FAI and the former Chief Executive's spectacular fall from grace.

RTE One will show 'The John Delaney Story' next Monday at 9:35pm, which will feature views from 'players, football fans, an ex-international manager, FAI insiders and journalists who all share their unique insights into the man who led the FAI for 15 years'.

Former Ireland boss Brian Kerr - who served as national team manager during Delaney's tenure as CEO and has been outspoken on the FAI crisis - will feature in the documentary.

Stewart Regan, the former CEO of the Scottish Football Association, will tell viewers about his treatment during an Ireland v Scotland international.

Sunday Times journalists and Champagne Football authors Mark Tighe and Paul Rowan will be interviewed as part of the documentary, while Eamon Dunphy will share his experience from Delaney's extravagant James Bond-themed 50th birthday party.

Champagne Football, the book which charts former FAI chief Delaney's rise and fall, has proven to be a real hit with Irish readers of late.

Virgin Media also aired a recent documentary on Delaney which was based on the best-selling book by Tighe and Rowan.

The documentary showed clips from Delaney 's Bond-themed party and gave an insight into his controversial reign - which eventually came to a shuddering halt after Champagne Football's authors broke a series of revealing stories about Delaney's compensation and the association's major financial troubles.
