New jobs could be created under plans to demolish buildings at industrial estate

A 'neglected' parcel of land on a Nottinghamshire industrial estate could be in line for new development.

Plans have been submitted to demolish two units at the Colwick Industrial Estate and create 18 new units in their place, creating a number of jobs in the process.

The proposal has been brought forward by Midlands Catering, whose bosses have said the units will create space for businesses and industrial groups.

In their plans, sent to Gedling Borough Council, they say: "A suitable commercial development can be brought forward here which responds well to its immediate context by replacing the outdated, poor and decrepit business space with the amount of floor space that is of high quality and delivers betterment to this locality and employments."

It continues: "The new proposals will infill an area of neglected land within the landholding of Midland Catering ltd.

"The proposed development is in keeping with the existing building uses within the immediate vicinity and has been designed with flexibility for various future occupiers.

"The new building will provide a contemporary addition and will provide opportunities for businesses, bringing new jobs into the area."

Colwick Industrial Estate, located between Netherfield and Radcliffe-on-Trent, currently houses a number of different businesses and offers a range of different units for them to let.

The application will now be considered by Geding Borough Council's planning committee.
