New job advert will pay you £30 an hour to shop at car boot sales - plus commission

Fancy getting paid £30 an hour to scout out hidden treasures in your spare time?

If the answer is yes, you might want to consider a new job advert that's after a David Dickinson wannabe to trawl through car boot sales across the UK in search of valuable silver items.

The successful candidate will get paid £30 an hour plus travel expenses and will have a budget of up to £2,000 to spend per car boot sale.

Plus, you'll get 20% commission on any valuables you find that are worth a pretty penny.

Antiques retailer AC Silver listed the vacancy on a quest to find its very own 'pro magpie'.

It's after someone with a passion for antiques, silverware and jewellery, as well as a deep understanding of what makes an item valuable.

More importantly, you'll be an expert haggler, able to knock items down to the lowest possible price.

If successful, you'll be given the freedom to choose which markets to visit - with all expenses reimbursed - plus a £2,000 budget to spend at each event.

All items found will then need to be sent to the company’s headquarters in Newcastle at the end of each month - all expenses paid.

And once the items have been valued by AC Silver's experts, you'll be given a 20% commission on the sale profits, on top of your £30 hourly rate.

The brand says it's 'looking for the next David Dickinson', and would like the candidate to start as soon as possible, just in time for the summer period – when car boot sales are at their busiest.

Members of the public interested in applying for the position must send in their CVs via the AC Silver website here.

Andrew Campbell, founder of AC Silver said: "As time progresses, increasing amounts of items become antiques, items people have in their homes continue to appreciate in value – even if they are unaware. This is why we are seeing these valuable products appear at events such as car boot sales, which are deemed more suitable for the general public. People often don’t know what they’re selling!

"This is why we are looking to recruit as soon as possible – the busiest periods for car boot sales are when it’s sunny, as vendors do not like standing in the rain trying to sell their old items! We’re hoping that we can get someone recruited by the end of June, with a view to start selling the products they acquire by the end of July."
