Jets’ Kaare Vedvik misses crucial extra point and field goal in debut

The New York Jets fell to the Buffalo Bills 17-16 in Week 1 to open the 2019 NFL season.

It should have been different.

Kaare Vedvik, whom the Jets claimed off waivers before the season, missed an extra point early in the game and then missed a 45-yard field goal to end the first half.

It’s been a wild month or so for Vedvik. After going 5-for-5 in a preseason game for the Ravens, and 12-for-13 over the last two preseasons in Baltimore, Vedvik was a hot commodity. So much so, that the Vikings traded a fifth-round pick for him.

But after Vedvik struggled with the Vikings, going just 1-for-4 in the final two games of preseason, the team released him.

It will be very interesting to see what the Jets do with Vedvik. It’s hard to put the loss on one player, but math says the Jets would have won if he had just made his kicks.
