A new cocktail bar specialising in Japanese drinks and food will open its doors on Call Lane later this month.
'Power, Corruption & Lies' will become the latest addition to Leeds city centre's nightlife scene on Friday, November 22, when it will take over the unit formerly occupied by Norman Bar.
It will be run by the same team who manage Oporto and Jake's Bar & Still Room, and will specialise in innovative cocktails, handpicked wines and authentic sake.
Named after New Order's 1983 album, 'Power, Corruption & Lies', the venue has been given a complete overhaul and now includes a giant 40-foot bar, with the building's original brickwork on show throughout.
From a mass brawl to new beginnings
It marks a huge turnaround for the venue, which was mired in controversy under its previous incarnation as Norman Bar under a different management structure.
Bouncers used fire extinguishers in an attempt to break up a mass brawl at Norman Bar in the early hours of Sunday, March 24.
The incident, which prompted police to issue a 'Code Zero', saw the bar temporarily closed due to fears over public safety.
Although it did reopen after the incident , it only lasted another three months before finally shutting down for good - 21 years after it first opened.
