The new N700S Shinkansen train that will make its debut on July 1 has been shown to the press and traveled between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.
According to Central Japan Railway Co., the N700S Green Car and some of the ordinary cars are equipped with a device that eases horizontal vibrations. When reclining the seat of an ordinary car, the backrest and the seat move simultaneously. Passengers don't get tired even if they sit for a long time.
Outlets were installed in all seats, and the in-car display has been expanded to 1.5 times the ordinary size to make it easier to see such information as where the train will stop.
The number of wheelchair seats has been increased from one to two per train. However, groups of people with disabilities are calling for further improvements, saying the number and size of wheelchair seats are still insufficient.
東海道新幹線「Ｎ７００Ｓ」公開
７月１日にデビューする東海道新幹線の新型車両「Ｎ７００Ｓ」が、土曜日に報道陣に公開された。東京―新大阪間を実際に走行した。
ＪＲ東海によると、Ｎ７００Ｓのグリーン車と一部の普通車には、体に感じる横揺れを抑える装置が導入されている。普通車の座席をリクライニングする際は、背もたれと座面が同時に動くように改良された。長時間座っても疲れにくくなった。また、コンセントがすべての座席に設けられた。車内ディスプレーは、停車駅などの情報を見やすいように、従来の１・５倍に拡大された。
車いす席は従来の１編成につき１台分から２台分に増えた。ただ、障害者団体は席数や広さがまだ不十分だとして、更なる改善を求めている。
