New ITV documentary about death of Jill Dando to air tonight

A new documentary looking into the unsolved murder case surrounding the death of Jill Dando is set to air at 9pm this evening (April 25).

The much-loved broadcaster, originally from Weston-super-Mare, was shot dead on the doorstep of her London home in 1999.

Jill Dando: The 20 Year Mystery will appear on ITV tonight, featuring an exclusive interview with Barry George - who was originally convicted of the murder before the ruling was overturned - and his sister Michelle.

Presenter Julie Etchingham will revisit the crime scene in tonight's programme, and will provide a first look at new information unearthed in boxes of evidence from the first trial into the murder.

The programme will also feature exclusive interviews with one of Jill's closest friends, Sir Cliff Richard, who provides a heartbreaking new insight into the personal impact of the broadcaster's death.

Tonight's show comes weeks after a documentary was released by the BBC about the Crimewatch host's death.

It featured interviews with those closest to Jill - including her brother Nigel who was working as a reporter at the Bristol Post at the time of her death.

Jill Dando: The 20 Year Mystery will air at 9pm tonight on ITV.
