New Italian restaurant opens on Westbury-On-Trym High Street

A new Italian restaurant has opened up in Westbury-On-Trym High Street.

Il Sapore opened its doors on Wednesday (May 19) in the venue formerly used by Greek restaurant Athena, which closed last year - two years after opening, and before that Casamia, a Michelin-starred restaurant which relocated to the harbourside in 2016.

Dan, 38, co-manager of the family-run business which has been operating in Italy for many several years, said: “We are finally able to establish ourselves here.

“We are very passionate about our food and we are able to cater to all ages.”

The menu includes pizza, freshly-made pasta and dishes like cod fish with creamy potatoes and spinach and rump steak with wild mushroom porcini butter. There is also a children's menu.

Dan, alongside Mark and Fabio, decided to launch their business on the High Street because of the area's good vibes and the venue’s Michelin-star history.

He said: “It's a really nice place and when people come here they leave happy."

For him, people able to see others getting together and socialising inside the restaurant is great.

Despite the closure of many food establishments across the city, Dan believes Il Sapore has the potential to thrive.

“We can definitely see the business surviving - we put in the hard work and we constantly try to present great tasting food and customer service.”
