New Italian cafe and wine bar to open in Liverpool next month

Liverpool city centre is set to welcome a new Italian cafe and deli.

Carmine’s Italian Cafe & Deli plans to open its doors on Sefton Street in May, providing all goes to plan with the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

The cafe will be serving up breakfast, brunch, Italian-style paninis, seasonal salads, cakes and more. It will also offer a small but carefully picked selection of artisan beers and Italian wines.

Carmine’s had initially planned to open around Christmas 2020, but this was delayed due to England’s second national lockdown.

However, owners now plan to open the doors from May 17, which is the provisional date set for the hospitality industry to reopen completely.

Owners Enzo and Arinna say deciding to open their doors in the Baltic Triangle was a “no brainer” and that they fell in love with Liverpool “because of its many faces, its many different roots and colours”.

The two said they wanted to make a “place for everybody” after such a tough year.

Enzo told the ECHO: “At the time we took over our unit we thought that investing in Liverpool and specifically in a central and vibrant area like the Baltic Triangle was, and still is a no brainer. We fell in love with Liverpool because of its many faces, its many different roots and colours.

“I am confident that the neighbourhood will be buzzing and lively again and can’t wait to open doors and welcome customers, meeting new friends and generally feel “normal” after such a dark period.

Carmine's Italian Cafe and Deli is opening in Liverpool (Carmine's Italian Cafe and Deli)

“Carmines will be a place where coffee lovers will be able to come by to grab a coffee on the way to work or university, or on the way to a stroll down the beautiful Marina but also a place to relax after work, enjoying an authentic Italian Lasagne for lunch or a cheeky drink before a night out, a place for everybody”.

The cafe is named after Enzo’s grandfather, who passed away in 2018. Enzo says his grandfather was his “working-class hero, ultimate food expert and overall legend”.

Carmine’s will also have outside seating available for customers to enjoy a quality coffee or a regional Italian wine with appetisers.

The venue will be a cafe by day and wine bar by night.

Once open, Carmine’s will offer takeaway and delivery services.
