New interactive map shows all the local authority COVID hotspots in Scotland - including Edinburgh

The Scottish Government has posted new in-depth data today about the coronavirus pandemic, which shows virus hotspots in Scotland, aimed at helping people 'forecast' the risk of COVID-19 in their area.

The new COVID public health dashboard shows a wider range of information about the virus than has been previously available, including data on deaths and cases by local authority health board.

This mean Scots will be able to see colour-coded virus hotspots - including specific areas which have been badly affected.

The map shows the latest figures (Public Health Scotland)

The colour an area is given will be dependant on the proportion of neighbourhoods which exceed 55 confirmed cases per 100,000 over a seven-day period.

An average-sized neighbourhood on the map, which would have about 4,000 people, would need to have three cases in the previous week to exceed that limit.

It includes detailed information related to the date of some of the test results and also the date on which people have passed away from the virus.

You can, for example, find out exactly how many women or men within a certain age range tested positive in Scotland on a specific day.
