New interactive map reveals which areas of Leeds have most new coronavirus cases

A new map reveals which areas of Leeds have had new positive cases of coronavirus.

The interactive map shows the highest number of new cases were recorded in Harehills (8) and Burmantofts (6) between July 6 and July 12.

The data on the map includes lab-confirmed cases of Covid-19, that were reported to Public Health England.

It only provides figures for areas which had three or more positive cases (between July 6 and 12), meaning most area of Leeds recorded less than three new confirmed cases during that time frame.

The new data looks at cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' which is a type of statistical unit used in the reporting of small area statistics.

During the pandemic, 3,708 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Leeds and figures released by the Office for National Statistics show the virus has claimed more than 690 lives in the city.
