New information has been released by the Shin Bet about the murder of a soldier in Arad.

On November 30, 2017, Ron Kukia, 19, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants while standing at a bus stop adjacent to a mall in the southern Israel city. A gag order was immediately placed on the case and the identity of the attackers was unknown.

On December 22, 2017, the Shin Bet revealed that the two suspected attackers, Arab citizens of Israel, were arrested the day after the attack. The two men, Khaled and Zuhay Abu Jouda, are residents of the Negev and had no previous criminal record.

In an interrogation after his arrest, Khaled Abu Jouda said his motive for the murder was revenge for IDF activity in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The Southern District Prosecutor's Office is expected to charge the two with murder on Sunday, December 24, 2017.
