New independent coffee shop has had 'tidal wave' of customers since opening

A new Merseyside coffee shop serving specialty drinks has already welcomed a "tidal wave" of customers through its doors.

Located off Barrow Street in the heart of St Helens town centre, Two Brothers Coffee opened last weekend in the former Galloways site.

Boasting a stunning white and wood interior, the business is the third venture for brothers Steve and Dave Jones, from Haydock.

Four years ago, the team launched their first Two Brothers coffee shop in Altrincham, later expanding to open a shop and roastery in Warrington Market and now another coffee shop St Helens.

Serving delicious hot and cold drinks, matcha, beetroot and turmeric lattes, customers can also enjoy a variety of cakes, bakes and sandwiches.

Manager Sean Lyall told the ECHO: "There’s obviously a big appetite for coffee in St Helens.

"There’s a Costa, a Starbucks and a Nero, all in the town centre within a mile of each other. There’s a big demand for coffee but there’s no specialty coffee here and St Helens is somewhere we looked at before covid.

"There seems to be a lot of investment going on there’s the Imperial Quarter opening, there’s the new outdoor terrace area outside Cork and Dough and there’s other things the council have in the pipeline."

Two Brothers, which boasts a white and wood interior, offers a variety of hot and cold drinks, cakes, bakes, sandwiches and their own roasted coffee beans.

Their menu also features more quirky options, such as matcha lattes, beetroot lattes and turmeric lattes.

Sean said: "We offer specialty coffee that we roast ourselves, we have a roaster in Warrington and we import coffee form all over the world.

"At the moment we have coffee from Columbia and we’ve previously had coffee from Uganda, Ethiopia and all over the place really."

The third venture for the team, Two Brothers began with one site in Altrincham four years ago and later opened and shop and roastery in Warrington Market at the end of the first lockdown last year.

Sean said the team feel "humble" to have come so far, especially expanding the business to two new areas during the pandemic.

He said: "It’s been great, we've had such an overwhelming response from the people of St Helens.

"We’ve been rushed off our feet which we didn't expect, we thought it would just gradually get busy as people kind of realise we’re here.

"But most people have seen the building work going on for a while and they followed us on social media and when we opened up it’s just been like a tidal wave through the front door.

"Honestly - it’s been fantastic."

On Facebook, one reviewer said: "Visited the new branch in St Helen's and it was lovely. The staff are very pleasant and helpful and the coffee was excellent.

"Think I have found my new coffee shop to visit."
