New, improved and awaiting departure

Central Japan Railway Co. held a press exhibition for a test vehicle of the L0 Series for the Linear Chuo Shinkansen with an improved shape for the lead car on Wednesday at Hitachi, Ltd.'s Kasado Works in Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi Prefecture. The vehicle, decorated with blue curving stripes on a white background, has a blunt yet rounded nose that is said to lower air resistance by about 13%.

With plans to begin operations from Shinagawa, Tokyo, to Nagoya in 2027, test runs will commence on the test track in Yamanashi Prefecture around the end of May this year.
