New Ibiza themed tapas bar and restaurant opening in Liverpool city centre

Liverpool city centre is getting a new Ibiza-themed tapas bar and restaurant and it's due to open in November.

Tapas Revolution will be located on the site of the former La Tasca restaurant in Queen Square near the Liverpool Empire and Playhouse theatres.

Tapas Revolution already has a number of restaurants across the UK, including London, Birmingham and Sheffield.

The new restaurant will have a Spanish inspired menu by Madrid-born chef and Tapas Revolution founder Omar Allibhoy. The food will be traditional and authentic tapas, but the look and concept will be “reminiscent of modern day Barcelona or Ibiza”.

Tapas Revolution will provide all-day dining for up to 132 guests at a time. There will also be a “Spanish Terraza” where people can drink and dine alfresco.

The restaurant’s star dish will be the iconic Paella, but there will be a variety of large sharing plates and mains. This includes 12 hour slow-roasted Iberian pork shank with piquillo peppers and green beans, and marinated chicken in a lemon and garlic glaze.

There will also be vegan options, including a Calabaza Asada; roasted butternut squash served with chickpeas, oyster mushrooms, piquillo peppers and baby spinach.

Tapas dishes include everything from ham and bechamel croquettes, chorizo roasted with cider, Spanish-style meatballs, to crispy slow-cooked pork belly, patatas bravas, tiger prawns and calamari with alioli.

Desserts haven’t been forgotten either, as Tapas Revolution will serve a variety of sweet treats including Spanish churros, Basque cheesecake, almond cake and chocolate fondant with a hint of orange.

The new restaurant will serve a variety of flavours of Sangria. (Press Handout)

There will be an extensive drinks menu featuring wine, spirits, soft drinks and a variety of flavours of sangria.

Chef Omar Allibhoy said: “Since opening the first Tapas Revolution restaurant back in 2010, we continue to grow from strength to strength and we’re delighted to now open our new restaurant here in Liverpool.

"The opening of the new restaurant provides a welcome boost to the local hospitality sector and we’re truly excited to see what the future holds for Tapas Revolution."
