Plans to build a new housing estate of 120 homes in Symington have been lodged.
The planning application from Banks Property will go in front of South Ayrshire councillors this week.
There have been 32 objections lodged with people voicing concerns over traffic, flooding and noise and other fears.
However, 17 people support the bid.
Officials are recommending politicians should refuse the development, which includes 25 affordable homes.
Proposals include a mixture of terraced, semi-detached and detached two-storey properties offering two, three or four bedrooms.
The scheme would be constructed on land to the north of Symington Road.
Symington Community Council opposes the development also.
A planning statement from Banks Property said: “The vision for Stockbridge, Symington is to create a sensitively designed, high quality development that respects the sites edge of village setting whilst providing much needed housing.
"The development will be of an appropriate scale that fits in with the character of the village of Symington.”
An objection submitted by resident Lucy Dempster said: "There are already too many new housing developments that the village does not have enough infrastructure to support.
"These have also made the roads highly congested, which they cannot cope with and makes driving and walking in the village dangerous and unpleasant."
Rory McGuire, who supports the plan, said: "This development would see new, high quality, energy efficient family homes brought to the local area, which could help keep families in Symington and support local services."
A council report said the plan is significantly contrary to the spatial strategy of the development plan.
The planning application is due to be presented to councillors at a full council meeting on Wednesday.
