The green light has been given to a new hotel which will transform the Glasgow city centre skyline.
Members of the council's planning committee have backed a proposal to demolish an office and retail building at 8 Dixon Street, and replace it with a new 20-level facility which houses a rooftop restaurant.
The hotel, located just off St Enoch Square, will include a ground-floor restaurant, bakery and cafe, penthouse suites, a gym, and meeting rooms.
Clyde Dixon Land & Property Ltd and Citihome Glasgow Ltd are behind the new build.
A statement on behalf of the developers contained in papers which went before elected members stated: "The new CITIHOME Building will have a ground floor restaurant, bakery and cafe and there will inevitably be an outdoor extension of these facilities. It is anticipated therefore that any proposed public realm project in Dixon Street will be elegant and a quality intervention to reflect the crisp new contemporary buildings around it.
"Among these features there will be a glass roof top restaurant where diners can admire the lively 'City Lights' threading through the City as well as the shimmering silently in the dark flowing river Clyde."
The go-ahead comes despite an objection from Historic Environment Scotland, after concerns about the impact on the A-listed nearby St Enoch Underground Station, which were overruled.
