An application has been launched to create flats and a hot food takeaway in a West Lothian town.
West Lothian Council validated the proposal on Monday May 24 to convert the existing ground floor shop into a takeaway and the office space upstairs into flats.
The unit at 25 & 27 North Bridge Street Bathgate sits next door to Dominos and currently operates as a Cash for Clothes shop.
The developers say that there has been a lot of interest already from people looking to lease out the takeaway shop.
They also say that the new flats would not be able to have lift access but they have planned another provision.
A spokesperson said: “The current offices are accessed via a central stair from the front of the premises.
“It is not proposed to provide a lift or ramped access as the footprint on the ground floor of the takeaway would not allow an accessible lift and entrance lobby to be installed and still allow the unit to be large enough for a hot food takeaway.
“The unit has been marketed before and the limited size as it stands was getting very little interest for retail, however the proposed hot food proposals has a variety of potential tenants.
“The stair will have a lower handrail added and provision will be made in the flats for ambulant disabled persons and design elements will be included to aid the partially sighted.”
