New homes set for Stewarton as East Ayrshire Council unveil plans

Transformation work to one of Stewarton’s most populated areas is starting to take shape.

As part of East Ayshire Council’s strategic housing investment plan, David Dale Avenue will benefit from the addition of 34 homes, built by the council’s strategic partner CCG (Scotland).

The site, which was previously occupied by tenement flats, will deliver high-quality, energy efficient homes in a range of two, three and four-bedroom homes available for rent.

Councillor Douglas Reid said: “Stewarton is an area where we have high demand for affordable housing.

“The site at David Dale Avenue can comfortably accommodate 34 new homes with associated landscaping.

“This development, which will be completed early in 2020, is going to help to regenerate this area of Stewarton and provide a wide range of home styles to meet the varying needs of our residents.

“Creating affordable homes, supporting the local building industry and creating jobs for local people: the housing building programme within East Ayrshire is changing both lives and the local townscape.”

All the homes, which are being delivered through the Scottish Procurement Alliance, will meet housing for varying needs and secure by design standards and silver standard accreditation.

The council and CCG recognise that housebuilding programmes like David Dale Avenue can bring some disruption to communities and have agreed a number of measures to implement during the building process.

Road closures are an essential part of the David Dale build programme and on Monday the road closure at David Dale Avenue was due to be past the junction of Fleming Drive to the end of the proposed construction site for a period of six months. Signed diversions will be in place.

During the Easter school holidays new 20pmh signs will be installed in the 20mph zone covering Kilwinning Road, Sim Street, Lothian Road and Crusader Crescent.

The alliance will also be completing pothole repairs throughout Stewarton within the coming weeks.
